United Free Church of Scotland Women's Home and Overseas Committee Ladies' Day 2020
34 South Street, Perth PH2 8PH
Wednesday 10th June
11.15am - 3.30pm
Mrs Joy Gillespie - SOHTIS (am)
Mr Nigel Kenny - The Christian Intstitute (pm)
This year Ladies' Day will again take place in the Moncrieffe Suite of the Salutation Hotel, 34 South Street, Perth, and we are reverting back to the more 'traditional' format of meeting that was held in previous years. We will be sitting in straight-forward rows (rather than at tables) and will not be serving lunch on site. Folks will be free to go into Perth for lunch.
The morning meeting will start at 11.15am (this is 1/2 hour earlier than last year) and there will be a break for lunch from 12.15pm - 2.00pm.
The afternoon meeting will finish at approx. 3.30pm.
In the morning we look forward to welcoming Mrs Joy Gillespie as our speaker. Joy is the Development Manager for 'Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland' (SOHTIS) which seeks to raise awareness of human trafficking in Scotland, supports survivors to rebuild their lives and works with other partners to reduce human trafficking.
Rev John Fulton Moderator of 2019 Gen Assembly will reflect on his year in office and our soloist for both morning & afternoon is Mrs Isabel Johnstone. Isabel Johnstone will also receive our Winter Project cheque on behalf of Torch Trust.
Our afternoon speaker is Mr Nigel Kenny who has been Christian Institute's Scotland Officer for the past 9 years. The C.I. works across a wide range of public policy issues including marriage and the family, religious liberty and sanctity of life. Nigel will explain to us some of the current proposals going through the Scottish Parliament which may have a profound impact on freedom of speech and freedom of conscience. He will also explain how - through some landmark Supreme Court cases - the Institute has been able to preserve and even strengthen our freedoms as Christians. Finally Nigel will show us what each of us can do to be a Christian influence as salt and light. He will receive our Special Gift on behalf of the Christian Institute. We also look forward to hearing a testimony from Mrs Karen Hall.
Please note that there will be one offering uplifted. This will go towards the funds of the Women's Home & Overseas Committee (monetary gifts are distributed yearly to our Mission Partners and other worthwhile causes).
WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING TOGETHER AGAIN AND SEEING YOU ON JUNE 10th 2020!
"...so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God".
