Prayer

Jesus taught us that we should pray to His Father in heaven, and that we shouldn't be afraid to ask Him for anything good, in Jesus' name. We can speak to Him through prayer, to ask for things for ourselves, and for others, such as guidance, understanding, patience, peace, healing, and forgiveness. He can remove our fears, give us rest, and fill us with a hope and confidence that can't be found elsewhere. He wants to be there for us, and always is, even if we don't always know it. We can trust in Him to nourish and strengthen us, and with His spirit living in us, He will get us through whatever we encounter in life.

Jesus prayed alone many times, but we are told that the apostles joined together constantly in prayer (Acts 14:7). He taught us that when we gather in His name He will be there with us when we do (Matthew 18:19-20), and that when we believe, we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer (Matthew 21:22).

Jesus also taught us to pray, Our Father (Matthew 6:9), so that we can know that God is Our Father too, and that as His children we can talk to Him, and He will listen.

On Monday evenings between 8pm and 9pm a UF Prayer Time is held in the Small Hall at Cathcart UF Church.

On the second Wednesday of each month, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, members of Cathcart UF and Cathcart Trinity Church meet in the Small Hall of Cathcart UF for a monthly prayer time together.

A prayer breakfast is held on the last Saturday of each month, between 8.30am and 10am, in the Sanctuary of Cathcart UF, which gathers those who wish to share in a light breakfast, followed by a time of prayer.

A prayer time for women is held periodically on Saturday mornings between 9.15am and 10.30am in the Small Hall of Cathcart UF.

A Glasgow southside churches prayer breakfast is held quarterly, on a Saturday between 8.30am and 10.00am, rotating around various churches on the southside of Glasgow.

All are welcome to share in any of these prayer fellowships. A reminder of the details of these meetings can be found below.
